CD79b, also known as Ig beta, is a type I integral membrane protein. Together with the Ig alpha chain (CD79a), it forms a heterodimeric complex that associates with membrane-IgM. CD79b is expressed exclusively in B lymphocytes and B cell lymphomas, and depending on the maturation state of the B cell, it is expressed either in the cytoplasm or on the cell surface. This CB3-1 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD79b.
