The monoclonal antibody H4B4 reacts specifically with CD107b, a 120 kDa highly glycosylated type I transmembrane protein, also known as LAMP-2 (lysosomal-associated membrane protein-2). CD107b is expressed in lysosomal/endosomal membranes on a wide variety of cell types. CD107b is also expressed on degranulating T cells and activated platelets, and expression has been reported in tumor cell lines. There is evidence that CD107b is involved in protecting the inner surface of the lysosomal membrane and cancer metastasis.
